A Fourth ICS for Baileys Fertilisers
In September 2010 Innovative Conveying Systems International installed a fourth Innovative Conveying System (ICS) into the Baileys Fertilisers manufacturing facility in Kwinana, Western Australia. The 35m long ICS is used to transport free-flowing fertiliser pellets from the custom designed 12m3 hopper through a 40° incline and 90° bend before discharging into a bagging machine inside the facility. Occupying a relatively low footprint and taking less than 12 weeks to manufacture and install, the 150 Series ICS offers a flexibility and reliability that other conventional conveying systems can’t. The enclosed conveyor system also reduces wastage by significantly reducing spillage along the length of the system. A newly-developed guarding system, along with a new, reinforced belt design and drive belts, makes installation and maintenance an easier task. Geoff Nott, Maintenance and Asset Manager for Baileys Fertilisers said, “The 150 conveyor system was successfully installed along with the feed hopper in one week and the commissioning of the system took two days. Since the conveyor has been in place, the product spillage has been reduced dramatically. The system has run well and I am now looking to put a scheduled maintenance program in place with ICSI”.
