The Innovative Conveying System (ICS) in operation

The accompanying video footage shows an ICS demonstration unit based on a 300mm cross section belt conveying coarse sand and feeding itself. This allows it to be run and tested for extended periods without requiring reloading.

The belt velocity is infinitely variable from 0.8m per second to 3m per second. At the higher velocity the system can convey sand at 1100 tonnes per hour. The same system could also be used to transport powders, coal, grain, aggregate and other materials that are smaller than 200mm in all planes.

The demonstration system incorporates both fixed and mobile frames for demonstration purposes. Of particular note is the tight operating radius of 5.5m, showing how the ICS can be used to negotiate complex paths with tight turns. Note the in-line drives, which enable the system to be extended to a great length by adding further drive units without increasing the tensile forces on the belt.

The ICS is highly scalable, represented by feasible belt sizes from 125mm to over 1000mm. Currently, the largest ICS belt available for application is 500mm in cross section.
