Roadheader Tunnel
There is often conflict between support machinery and trucks in a roadheader tunnel. While the trucks transport the material from the roadheader to the destination, there is insufficient room for the ground support equipment (such as scissor lifts, shotcreting machines and so on) to operate.
The converse also holds true. That is, while the ground support is underway there is insufficient room for the trucks.
This conflict can severely affect production. The ICS belt conveying system offers a solution with its Shortbridge configuration. A fully mobile ICS belt conveying system accepts the material from the roadheader and delivers it the trucks some 70 or more metres from the face of the tunnel. The mobility of the ICS belt conveying system allows it to advance with the progress of the roadheader. The small footprint of the ICS belt conveying system allows the ground support equipment to operate while the material is being evacuated from the face. Thus, both the trucks and the support equipment can operate simultaneously, reducing the amount of lost productivity.
